Titre Testing
A titre test is a measure of the level of protective antibodies in the blood.
If a titre test is positive, then you can be reassured that your dog is protected from the disease and another vaccination is not needed right now.
If a client prefers, we can perform titre testing at the time of your dog’s annual checkup to see if vaccination against parvovirus and distemper virus is needed that year. Vaccinations for leptospirosis and kennel cough will be needed annually as the duration of immunity for these vaccinations is shorter.

Leptospirosis - Leptoguard | Annual |
Kennel cough - Intranasal, oral or injectable | Annual depending on risk |

Parvovirus
Parvovirus is a highly contagious and potentially deadly disease, especially for puppies and unvaccinated dogs. In Auckland, we recommend a tailored approach to the parvo vaccination, where the frequency of the vaccine can vary between every 1 to 3 years, depending on your dog’s risk factors.
Leptospirosis
Leptospirosis is a bacterial infection that can affect both dogs and humans. In Auckland, the climate and environment create conditions where this bacteria can thrive, particularly in areas with standing water, such as puddles, ponds, and streams, or where rats and other wildlife might be present.
Because Auckland’s environment presents these risk factors year-round, we recommend an annual leptospirosis vaccination for dogs. This helps ensure that your dog remains protected against the most common strains of the bacteria, reducing the risk of serious illness.
Kennel Cough
A respiratory infection, can be a concern for dogs, especially in environments where they come into contact with other dogs, such as boarding facilities, dog parks, or grooming salons. The kennel cough vaccination can help protect against this illness.
However, the need for this vaccination can vary. For some dogs, an annual booster is recommended, especially if they frequently interact with other dogs. For others who are more isolated or don’t often visit places where kennel cough is common, the vaccination might not be necessary.
Our approach is to assess your dog’s lifestyle and risks before recommending the kennel cough vaccination. We’ll discuss your dog’s routine and help you decide whether this vaccine is appropriate for them and how often it should be administered. Ultimately, our goal is to ensure your dog’s health and well-being while avoiding unnecessary treatments

Rabies
While rabies isn’t an issue in New Zealand, we understand that travel to regions where it’s a concern may require this protection.
We can certainly provide a rabies vaccination for your pet. Since we don’t routinely stock the vaccine, we ask that you give us some advance notice so we can order it in specifically for your needs. This way, we can ensure your pet is fully protected before your trip.
Please let us know as early as possible about your travel plans, and we’ll work with you to schedule the vaccination at the right time, ensuring all requirements are met for your journey
Cat Vaccinations

Cat Flu - Tricat | Every 1-3 years depending on risk |
FIV - Fel-O-Vax FIV | Optional, depending on risk |
Cat flu
Cat flu is a common and contagious respiratory disease that can affect cats of all ages. To help protect your cat, we recommend regular vaccination. Depending on your cat’s lifestyle and risk factors, the cat flu vaccination may be administered every 1 to 3 years.
For indoor cats with minimal exposure to other cats, a booster every 2 to 3 years may be sufficient. However, for outdoor cats or those frequently in contact with other cats, an annual vaccination might be recommended to ensure they remain fully protected.
During your cat’s wellness visits, we’ll evaluate their specific circumstances and recommend the most appropriate vaccination schedule. This personalized approach helps ensure your cat receives the protection they need without unnecessary treatments
Feline Immunodeficiency Virus (FIV)
Feline Immunodeficiency Virus (FIV) is a serious viral infection in cats that affects the immune system, making them more susceptible to other infections. We can offer the FIV vaccination if it is right for your cat.
